Kansas City Mini-vacation

This past weekend we took a minivacation with the kids to Kansas City, Missouri. It's about 4 hours from St. Louis, and the kids traveled great! We visited the Crown center, a shopping and restaurant area of downtown. They have a crayola store there as well as A Clifford the Big Red Dog exhibit that the kids loved playing in and exploring. We visited the KC Zoo, where we got there early enough that all the animals were awake and alert. Kaitlyn has become an animal expert from watching Go Diego, GO! We ate at Lidia's Italian restaurant - YUMMY. After dinner we found this place called Paradise Park which was a great place for little ones. It had all sorts of fun things for them to do - Brady too! He loved the soft play room (great since he's still crawling everywhere) and the bouncy ball pit. It was really nice since it wasn't crowded! On Sunday kaitlyn wanted to see dinosaurs so we went to this restaurant called T-REX...a dinosaur themed restaurant. We had a great weekend and so did the kids (as you can see from the last 2 pictures...the ride home was very quiet!)

I think we had a good time - this was on the way home, we wore them out!

A weekend in the city...

Kaitlyn has her first Irish dance feis here in downtown Atlanta. We decided to make a weekend of it (she dances today and tomorrow) and spend the night at the hotel where the feis is being held. We started very early this morning with Kaitlyn dancing just before 9am! She did amazing and placed in both her dances (second in jig; 3rd in reel). After she finished dancing we headed to the children's museum of Atlanta. The kids had a blast trying all the cool things to do. Then we grabbed some lunch in centennial park (it's 65 degrees here so we ate outside!!) and then hit the aquarium. The kids are excited to swim at the indoor pool later and then it's more dancing in the morning!

Kaitlyn's first ATL Irish Dance performance

Since moving to Atlanta, the kids had to get involved in their activities down here. Kaitlyn started Irish dancing at Mulligan School back in August. She competed in her first Southern Region Feisanna in November. Tonight, she performed at her first community event with some of the other girls from the dance studio. She did fantastic. I took several pictures as well as a video of her dancing with the other girls. She will be doing many more performances as she made the Tara Dance Company (which is a handpicked dance team that travels the city in the Spring doing performances). We are quite proud of our little Irish dancer and can't wait to see where her dancing takes us! Here is the video...
