Kilbane Happenings

Since living in Atlanta, we have been wanting to go to Stone Mountain Park. It's about an hour from our house, just outside the city of Atlanta. We had planned to go for their Pumpkin Festival in October, but time got away from us. Since they start their Christmas festivities early, we decided to take advantage of the free Saturday we had and go yesterday. The Christmas activities didn't start until around 2pm, so we headed there after lunch to check out the scene. We started with the Summit Skyride - a ride to the top of Stone Mountain. The mountain itself is a dome of granite that's sits at 1,686 ft above sea level. On the side of the mountain is a carving that depicts three figures of the Confederate States of America : Stonewall Jackson , Robert E. Lee , and Jefferson Davis . We were able to exit the skyride and walk around on top of the mountain. It was quite windy up there! Then we headed down the mountain to check out some of the happenings at the Crossroads where...

Kaitlyn has her first Irish dance feis here in downtown Atlanta. We decided to make a weekend of it (she dances today and tomorrow) and spend the night at the hotel where the feis is being held. We started very early this morning with Kaitlyn dancing just before 9am! She did amazing and placed in both her dances (second in jig; 3rd in reel). After she finished dancing we headed to the children's museum of Atlanta. The kids had a blast trying all the cool things to do. Then we grabbed some lunch in centennial park (it's 65 degrees here so we ate outside!!) and then hit the aquarium. The kids are excited to swim at the indoor pool later and then it's more dancing in the morning! 

In case I haven't mentioned it, I LOVE Brady's preschool! He has learned so much in just 10 weeks of school! He's writing his name, coloring much better, using scissors (not just making small piles of bits of paper, actually cutting out objects) and so much more.  His class got a "home work" assignment from their teacher (he usually doesn't have work at home to do). He was given a blank turkey and we were told that with Thanksgiving approaching, hlyhebturkey needed to a disguise so they could avoid being the main course!  Brady picked out his disguise all by himself. All I did was print off the logo (that he colored and cut out himself).  The rest was all him! How does he look? Who is Brady's turkey disguised as?? Here is the before picture: And after....

So we survived Halloween in our new home! Brady's class had a Halloween parade, party, hayride and pumpkin patch! Kaitlin's class was a little more low key with just a Halloween snack. The kids enjoyed trick or treating in out new neighborhood. No hills to climb!! We ended the evening in the cul de sac with the neighbors, chatting while the kids jumped on the trampoline!
