An afternoon at Minnie Ha Ha Park

After picking Kaitlyn up from school yesterday, I asked her what she wanted to do....her usual reply, "Go to the park!". So we headed to Minnie Ha Ha park in Sunset Hills. We love this park as its quite secluded next to Highway 30 just on the other side ofthe Meramec River and it has a great walking path and 3 playgrounds! When the river floods, this park floods and it's depressing because we know it will be quite a while before we can play there. But so far, no flooding this spring! It's great because no one really visits here because the main bridge that crosses from Fenton into Sunset Hills over the river is destroyed so people think the park is closed or unaccessible...NOT SO! We love this park and I was able to get some great pictures of the kids.

A weekend in the city...

Kaitlyn has her first Irish dance feis here in downtown Atlanta. We decided to make a weekend of it (she dances today and tomorrow) and spend the night at the hotel where the feis is being held. We started very early this morning with Kaitlyn dancing just before 9am! She did amazing and placed in both her dances (second in jig; 3rd in reel). After she finished dancing we headed to the children's museum of Atlanta. The kids had a blast trying all the cool things to do. Then we grabbed some lunch in centennial park (it's 65 degrees here so we ate outside!!) and then hit the aquarium. The kids are excited to swim at the indoor pool later and then it's more dancing in the morning!

Kaitlyn's first ATL Irish Dance performance

Since moving to Atlanta, the kids had to get involved in their activities down here. Kaitlyn started Irish dancing at Mulligan School back in August. She competed in her first Southern Region Feisanna in November. Tonight, she performed at her first community event with some of the other girls from the dance studio. She did fantastic. I took several pictures as well as a video of her dancing with the other girls. She will be doing many more performances as she made the Tara Dance Company (which is a handpicked dance team that travels the city in the Spring doing performances). We are quite proud of our little Irish dancer and can't wait to see where her dancing takes us! Here is the video...
