What are the benefits of blogging for students?
There are many benefits of blogging for students. Students can use blogging to express what they have learned about a specific topic in the classroom. For example, students have been learning about marine animals in science class. Students have been following the nesting of sea turtles in Hilton Head Island. They have each chosen a nest and have been following it on their website. Every few days, students read the progress of the nest online and then create a blog post on what they read and include images to share with their classmates.
Another benefit to students blogging is for them to be able to express themselves creatively. Students can create a weekly poem blog post where they find a poem they like, copy it to their blog post (citing the author and resource where they found it) and then summarize the poem and write about why they chose it and what they liked most about it.
