Our Lady Of Snows Way Of Lights

Last night we decided to venture to Bellville, IL and check out the Way of Lights at the Our Lady of Snows National Shrine. It was a beautiful light display that was like nothing I have ever seen before. Usually, when you visit drive-thru light displays, there isn't much of a religious message or theme to the lights except for the constant - Nativity scene. This light display was completely devoted to the Christmas story - from the beginning with Michael the Archangel visitng Mary and Joseph and telling of the baby that was coming and that God sent him to bring love to everyone, to the middle where Mary and Joseph had to flee to Bethlehem and ride on a donkey and found no room at the Inn and had to stay in a stable where Baby Jesus was born and placed in a manger and was watched by the animals, shepherds and 3 wise men that came bearing gifts. It was a beautiful display with markings along the way with the bible verses from the story. They also had 2 different areas with animals for petting and feeding (goats, cattle, sheep, camels, etc...). Inside they had several different activities including a wreath and Christmas tree display as well as the children's village where the kids could make crafts, see a puppet show and play in the lego corner and with nativity scenes. It was a great night! If you're ever in the St. Louis area around Christmas time - this is someting you must see! I'll be taking my family the next time they are here for Christmas! AND IT'S FREE! We gave a donation when we exited the lights, but its not required! Entrance to the Way of lights

A weekend in the city...

Kaitlyn has her first Irish dance feis here in downtown Atlanta. We decided to make a weekend of it (she dances today and tomorrow) and spend the night at the hotel where the feis is being held. We started very early this morning with Kaitlyn dancing just before 9am! She did amazing and placed in both her dances (second in jig; 3rd in reel). After she finished dancing we headed to the children's museum of Atlanta. The kids had a blast trying all the cool things to do. Then we grabbed some lunch in centennial park (it's 65 degrees here so we ate outside!!) and then hit the aquarium. The kids are excited to swim at the indoor pool later and then it's more dancing in the morning!

Kaitlyn's first ATL Irish Dance performance

Since moving to Atlanta, the kids had to get involved in their activities down here. Kaitlyn started Irish dancing at Mulligan School back in August. She competed in her first Southern Region Feisanna in November. Tonight, she performed at her first community event with some of the other girls from the dance studio. She did fantastic. I took several pictures as well as a video of her dancing with the other girls. She will be doing many more performances as she made the Tara Dance Company (which is a handpicked dance team that travels the city in the Spring doing performances). We are quite proud of our little Irish dancer and can't wait to see where her dancing takes us! Here is the video...
