Dan Humphrey, Sr. 1946-2011

We had a tragic loss hit our family last week. My dear, dear Uncle Dan (my dad's brother) passed away Monday January 17 after a long battle with heart disease. His heart was so full of love and passion for his family. We celebrated his life this past weekend in Cleveland, Ohio where hundreds gathered to pay their respects to a man who was an amazing husband to his bride, father to his children and doting grandfather to his 8 grandchildren. He also left behind 3 brothers that were his life-long best friends, 2 sisters and 13 nieces and nephews. Those who knew him, knew of his kind words and loving words for all he came in contact with. He could make anyone laugh and will keep us laughing as we remember him always and his joyful presence. All of my aunts, uncles, and cousins were able to make it to Cleveland, Ohio for the funeral. I was also able to reconnect (after too many long years and milestones missed) with some dear sorority sisters. We chatted just like it was old times and I can't wait to see them again.

Birthday Party at Chuck E Cheese!!

Brady decided he wanted to have his birthday party with his friends at Chuck E Cheese. He invited his best buddies from school and we had a great time. He scored tons of tickets in the ticket blaster, had a Star Wars cake and had a great time playing games with all his friends. Here are some highlights from the awesome party! A weekend in the city...

Kaitlyn has her first Irish dance feis here in downtown Atlanta. We decided to make a weekend of it (she dances today and tomorrow) and spend the night at the hotel where the feis is being held. We started very early this morning with Kaitlyn dancing just before 9am! She did amazing and placed in both her dances (second in jig; 3rd in reel). After she finished dancing we headed to the children's museum of Atlanta. The kids had a blast trying all the cool things to do. Then we grabbed some lunch in centennial park (it's 65 degrees here so we ate outside!!) and then hit the aquarium. The kids are excited to swim at the indoor pool later and then it's more dancing in the morning!

Kaitlyn's first ATL Irish Dance performance

Since moving to Atlanta, the kids had to get involved in their activities down here. Kaitlyn started Irish dancing at Mulligan School back in August. She competed in her first Southern Region Feisanna in November. Tonight, she performed at her first community event with some of the other girls from the dance studio. She did fantastic. I took several pictures as well as a video of her dancing with the other girls. She will be doing many more performances as she made the Tara Dance Company (which is a handpicked dance team that travels the city in the Spring doing performances). We are quite proud of our little Irish dancer and can't wait to see where her dancing takes us! Here is the video...
